This fabulous 1940s to
early 1950s taffeta robe or dressing gown will thrill you if
you adore the Lucy look. Everything about this robe says iconic
mid century, the fabric is rayon taffeta with that satisfying
little sexy rustle with each move you make, the back has a fantastic
pleated flare. The color is a deep rich red, very much like the
red lipstick worn by screen sirens of the past. The collar is
similar to a peter pan but is more like a vintage choir robe,
very flattering worn up or down. The collar and down the front
of the robe are adorned with lovely embroidered trailing vines
and rosebuds done in pink and green. The size measures to a very
generous medium to large,15 3/4" across the back shoulder,
the bust accomodates 36 to 42, because of the cut it looks great
on any size. The outer sleeve measures 19", the length is
40" measured from the shoulder, the condition is very good
vintage. At the top of one of the back pleats underneath the
collar I see a teeny opening when held to the light. The front
fastens with snaps and about halfway down finishes with 4 buttons.
The label reads Fashioned By Flobert, this is one of the finest
lounge wear makers from the golden age of lingerie. This robe
would be perfect to wear as a hostess gown for a festive at home
holiday party.
