This is the most elegant
and unique peignoir set I've ever had the pleasure of offering.
The maker is Tula which was a high end vintage lingerie maker
specializing in peignoirs, robes and other lounge apparel. The
gown is bias cut for that slinky 1930s sultry movie star look
with a deep V front and back neckline. The left bodice has hand
painted feathers, ribbons and balloons. The condition of this
fabulous set is very good vintage, the only thing I see needing
attention is one back bodice seam on the gown where a small area
has pulled away from the seam and should be reinforced or resewn.
The gown fits a 32/34 bust with a midriff 28/30, the length measured
from the shoulder is 52". The peignoir is three-quarter
length and has fabulous hand painted Mardi Gras designs. There
are small shoulder pads and that is where the Tula label is.
The style is free flowing with long sleeves, each sleeve has
hand painted designs, there is a ballerina with a feather skirt,
a clown and floating balloons. The colors are still bright and
beautiful, nude, fuschia, teal and gold. The sleeves fasten with
2 snaps at the wrist and are 24 1/2", the peignoir fastens
at the neck with a tie. The fabric is jet black with the feel
of sheer crepe, I can't be sure if it is silk or rayon but it
is elegant and drapes beautifully. With a simple long black slip
underneath this would make a stunning one of a kind evening ensemble
or you could just use it as art hanging from a puffy satin hanger
in your boudoir.
